Calling the Richards Memorial Library “the jewel of North Attleborough,” the Town Council unanimously approved spending $1.25 million for urgent repairs to the library building. Deferred maintenance, that began with the Great Recession, can no longer be put off. The project will include hiring an Owner’s Project Manager to oversee the design and work. The design phase should begin next spring and the construction phase will begin next summer. The goal is to have the work complete in the summer of 2023. There may be inconveniences during construction but, as of now, there are no plans to shut the building. The library is happy to serve as a collection location for donations of stocking-stuffer items to benefit a local food pantry. Needed items include toiletries for adults and candies and small toys for children. The collection box will be in the Reading Room until December 13.
