One year ago, the Library launched its no-fines policy. At the same time, we shortened the time that a late item is considered lost and billable from 12 to 4 weeks. It has been a great success, with many long-missing items returned. But there is one drawback: people did like our Food for Fines option, under which they could bring in non-perishable items in lieu of paying fines. We took in a tremendous amount for Lenore's Pantry. Regrettably, that has dried up. So, with Thanksgiving around the corner, please remember our neighbors who rely on the Pantry by bringing food to Town Hall or the Library. Thank you.
