The year is drawing to a close and it’s time to take stock of the changes that we’ve all seen in the past (almost) three years. Like everywhere else, the Library closed for face-to-face business in March of 2020. We did start to provide limited, front porch and/or curb side delivery the following month. When retail was allowed to reopen in June 2020, the Library followed suit. I’m glad to say that in the 2½ years since we have reopened, eventually into our full schedule of 59 hours per week, we have seen business and foot traffic pick up. People are becoming more confident and certainly more resilient. Let’s hope that this spirit continues and that the coming year will seem like a normal one for us all.

Join the crafting group on Wednesday, January 18 at 1:30 for a painting session. Always wanted to try a "paint night"? Well, now you can try a "paint afternoon". We'll be painting a simple winter scene. Beginners are welcome. Everyone will leave with an acrylic on canvas work of art.The class is limited to 10 adults ages 18+. Please register at the Reference Desk or call 508-699-0122. The first book discussion of 2023 will be held on the second Tuesday, January 10 at 1:30. We will be discussing One Two Three by Laurie Frankel. Everyone knows everyone in the tiny town of Bourne, but the Mitchell triplets are especially beloved. Mirabel is the smartest person anyone knows, and no one doubts it just because she can’t speak. Monday is the town’s purveyor of books now that the library’s closed—tell her the book you think you want, and she’ll pull the one you actually do from the microwave or her sock drawer. Mab’s job is hardest of all: get good grades, get into college, get out of Bourne Three unforgettable narrators join together here to tell a spellbinding story with wit, wonder, and deep affection. Laurie Frankel has written a laugh-out-loud-on-one-page-grab-a-tissue-the-next novel, about how expanding our notions of normal makes the world a better place for everyone and how when days are darkest, it’s our daughters who will save us all. Our book display this month is "Home Sweet Home". Check out our new (and older) interior design books for your winter DYI project.
