Unearthing History, One Page at a Time: Freedom SeekersSaturday, June 13, 10:30 am – 12:00 pmFreedom on the Move is a database of North American newspaper advertisements placed by enslavers and jailers. Learn how to transcribe the “runaway ads” that were printed in newspapers by those who claimed people as their property. Taken collectively, the ads constitute a detailed, concise, and rare source of information about the experiences of enslaved people. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop; a limited number are available on site. Please register at events.mcl.org.

Hopewell Valley Come Out and Play at the Library Thursday, June 4, 10:30 amJoin us for a nature themed outdoor storytime. Learn about nature with books, finger plays and songs about the great outdoors! Open to children ages 5 and under, accompanied by an adult. Children will receive a take-home craft after story time. Space is limited. Small chairs will be provided but feel free to bring your own chairs or a blanket for your family. Rain or shine event! Registration is required.
