Eyes of the Wild: Mammal ManiaSaturday, August 3, 10:00 – 11:00 amJoin us for this special blend of education and entertainment, featuring live exotic animals! Learn about the unique wildlife ambassadors, their habitats, and their characteristics. If you’re lucky, you might even get to touch one! This event will be held outdoors, weather permitting. Otherwise, it will be inside our Conference Room. Food is not permitted during this program out of respect to our animal guests. Sponsored by the Friends of the West Windsor Library. For ages 6 and up, with a caregiver. Registration is not required, but no more than 80 in admittance.

Wednesday, August 7, 6:00 - 8:15 pmThe Youth Services Department of the West Windsor Branch will be holding open auditions for teens age 12-18 for four new plays written by librarian Michael Kerr for our Halloween Playfest: “The Stay-Behinds;” “Words Will Never Hurt Me;” “Backstage;” and “The Life of the Party.”
Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Scripts will be available for inspection at the reference desk or can be sent by email. Online registration is recommended but walk-ins are also welcome.
Rehearsals will begin in early September. The performances will take place from October 25-27. We also welcome help with makeup, costumes, and set construction. Grant Castner, Trenton Photographer: The Delaware River & Canals, 1890-1920 Monday, August 26, 7:00 pm One of the founders of the Trenton Camera Club in 1898, Castner was not a casual snap shooter. A serious amateur, he photographed extensively in New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania. His subject matter included the focus of this lecture: the Delaware River, its tributaries, and the canals located on both the NJ and PA sides. Sponsored by the Friends of the Hopewell Library.

Kanopy - Stream More Movies! We have exciting news! We are changing our Kanopy subscription to allow our patrons access to more content. Instead of only being able to stream titles from the Plus Packs, patrons now have access to Kanopy’s full catalog. With the new access, patrons will have 10 “tickets” per month to use on content. We will continue to offer access to our most popular Plus Packs (Easy Watching, British Cinema, Episodic Series, and Kanopy Kids). Any title from these collections will be 0 tickets! Need to complete school summer reading assignments? Visit our Hopewell, Hightstown, and Robbinsville Branches to find the books you'll need in their special Summer Reading and School Assignments collection! This special collection contains multiple copies of books found on our local school reading lists. Each book can be checked out for two weeks, but may not be renewed or placed on hold - making them available to more students throughout the summer.

Branch News Our annual summer reading program is nearing its end! Those participating have until Saturday, August 10th, to check-in and submit their final minutes and raffle tickets. Winners will be called on Monday, August 12th! We have had so many wonderful activities this summer, but the fun isn’t over yet! We have two more Kids Craft events on Wednesday, August 7th at 3PM, where children ages 6-11 can make friendship bracelets to share with their friends, and on Saturday, August 10th at 12PM, where children ages 6-11 can make their own colorful pencil cases. There is also a Rakhi Bracelet making program for ages 5-18 earlier that day at 1 PM, so if you need a gift for your sibling, make sure you drop by and to create a present! Lastly, we also have an interactive and educational program regarding tick bite prevention on Tuesday, August 13th at 1 PM, provided by the West Windsor Health Department for ages 5-11. Stay safe this summer and thank you all for participating in our summer reading program!
