Escape Room Event at Hayden
Do you and your kids like a challenge? A problem where the answer isn't immediately apparent? Have you wanted to do an escape room with your family but it was too costly or scary? Not a fan of being "locked" in room? Here's your chance to do a family-friendly, leave any time you need to, "escape" challenge!
The story: A wealthy eccentric has invited 8 people from various fields of study to their home. They have dinner and then, for dessert, the host challenges the guests to find the clues hidden in their places of work to answer a riddle. If they can find the clues and answer the riddle they will be allowed to take a gift from the host's safe. If you solve the riddle, you can take something too.
HOMESCHOOL STEAM FAIR
I hope you'll participate in the STEAM Fair with us! The STEAM fair is an opportunity for your kids of all ages to show off the cool things they learn (via a science fair project!) or make (their art, pictures of their Lego builds!). We'll provide the space and have prizes for all of the participants.
Register only the kids who will be making a project for the fair and download a printable resource packet for prepping the project here.
Registering makes sure there is space for your project and that I have enough prizes for everyone. You don't need to register to attend the fair, just to be featured in it.
You can also check outsciencebuddies.org to find cool science fair projects for all abilities.
Think. Make. Create.
Yay for Gizmo! Gizmo-CDA is providing the Think Make Create kits and the expert assistance for this STEAM program aimed at learners 10 yrs/4th grade and up. The Think Make Create program will be held in Wilma's Realm and we are asking that younger siblings that come along please hang out with you in the children's area with the toys, coloring sheets, computers and books, books, books!
Looking for an all ages program? The Homeschool Libratory (featured above) is a great one for that.
Gizmo is a non-profit organization located in North Idaho and whose purpose is to provide space, training and programming for makers of all ages! They have a free Tinkertime program for ages 7-13, a monthly homeschool field trip opportunity for 10.00 per family, mentor hours (40.00/hour to learn any tool - my son used this service to learn to use a lathe for his 9th birthday) and coming soon they'll be doing free career programs geared toward 14+ where you can talk with someone who works in a STEM field.
Gizmo will be helping with the STEAM Fair and with our Think.Make.Create programs and I am so excited about it!
