Marvel Comics Edition

Can you believe it? We've made it to yet another Marvel movie release.  Hello, Spiderman! Welcome to the Multi-verse!

Marvel Comics started in 1939 under the name Timely Comics.  The first title released under the Marvel brand was 1961's Journey Into Mystery #69.  The first modern marvel superhero team, written and edited by the late Stan Lee, was Fantastic Four.  They were set apart from other historic comic heroes by the way they fought (with each other), and their celebrity status--no secret identities anymore!

Since Marvel has been produced weekly comics since the 1930s (WOW!) it's hard to know where to start even if you are a little curious or super interested.

The library doesn't generally have the weekly paper-like editions, but we have a lot of compilations. The compilations actually make it easier to pick it up and start, because one book often has a complete story line.  Or, even better, the volumes are numbered so you don't have to guess what to read next.

Below we've listed some good places to start depending on your favorite super hero.
Or maybe you're not interested in the comics, but you've enjoyed the cinematic universe?  Keep scrolling for some fandom inspired non-comic ways to enjoy a little bit more of Marvel.

This website sounds awful, but is actually a really fun way to create interesting playlists that will gradually take you from one artist to another changing just a little bit each time.

For example, going from Taylor Swift to Metallica:

The website will generate the playlist and play 30 second samples of each song, but you can save the list to Spotify to listen to the full-length versions.
