Martian The librarians chat with "astro-not" Sophie Milam about her experience living on sMars (simulated Mars) and interviewing Andy Weir, author of The Martian. In this episode, we talk about how computer programmer Weir self-published a scientifically sound novel about the MacGyver of space that rocketed to box office success. PLUS Sophie answers all our interplanetary questions: What is regolith? How many science degrees does one need to become an astronaut? What's the difference between implosion and explosion, and could it happen to us? And does NASA send branded tumblers into space? Check out more Andy Weir related items here.

NASA's Exoplanet Travel Bureau Nasa has created virtual tourist visits to several exoplanets, such as 55 cancri e (lava, all the lava!) and Kepler 16b (two suns, twice the sunburn!). In addition to traveling to the surface of several of the planets, there are also classic travel posters and coloring sheets. In addition to exploring planets you've never even heard of, there is also an option to virtually explore the views in space from Hubble or Kepler or other telescopes/space observatories.
