Women's Prize for Fiction Longlist Announced
 
"To change the world through books by women, opening up pathways into reading and writing for the storytellers and booklovers of tomorrow," is the Women's Prize Trust's mission.
 
The prize, established in 1996, is intended to highlight exceptional works of writing by women, those that are both "entertaining readers and holding a mirror up to the issues at the core of our global society."  The winner receives a check for £30,000 and a limited edition bronze statue known as a 'Bessie.'" The longlist includes 16 titles which will be be narrowed down to a single winner in June.  If you start reading now you may be able to read them all before the winner is announced!
