Thank You! I am grateful to the Community Library Network staff. Everyone who works here contributes to the library’s success. They are also wonderful, smart, friendly, and fun people! They truly love serving this community and it shows in everything they do. I am grateful to the Library Board of Trustees, Friends, Foundation, and our library advocates. The Board represents the residents of Kootenai and a portion of Shoshone counties as we determine policy, goals, and needs. The Friends of the Library and Foundation generously support us through fundraising, grant applications, and volunteering in the library. Advocacy is the process of acting on behalf of the public library to increase public funds and ensure that it has the resources needed to be up to date. Today’s public libraries are consistently challenged to do more with less—less money, less staff, and less time. It has never been more important for librarians, staff members, trustees, and others with a vested interest in their public libraries, to convey the value of the library. Finally, I want to thank you for being a library user! Thank you for coming to one of our 8 libraries, for participating in our programs, and for checking out our materials! In 2022, you collectively visited us 408,599 times and checked out 1,164,939 items. That means an average of 9 visits and 25 checkouts for every registered user in CLN! More importantly, your visits allowed us to help you personally. These interactions help us understand the needs of our community on an individual basis. Thank you for the privilege of allowing us to serve you! ~Alexa Eccles Community Library Network Director
