Retold Classics

Retelling of classic novels re-imagine the classic stories in a number of different ways.  Sometimes they tell the story from a different perspective--like the musical Wicked showing the Wicked Witch's side of the Wizard of Oz.  Other times they set the story in a different time or era, think Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock or Easy A placing the Scarlet Letter in a modern high school.

They're an interesting way to dig into the way culture, time, or a tiny change of events (introduce zombies for example, like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) can affect a character's motivations and actions.  And retold classics are a fun way to rediscover old favorites or introduce the timeless tales to new audiences.
