Trout bum
by John Gierach

"Trout Bum is a fresh, contemporary look at fly fishing, and the way of life that grows out of a passion for it. The people, the places, and the accoutrements that surround the sport make a fishing trip more than a set of tactics and techniques. John Gierach, a serious fisherman with a wry sense of humor, show us just how much more with his fishing stories and a unique look at the fly-fishing lifestyle. Trout Bum is really about why people fish as much as it is about how they fish, and it is ultimately about enduring values and about living in a harmony with our environment. Few books have had the impact on an entire generation that Trout Bum has had on the fly-fishing world. The wit, warmth, and the easy familiarity that John Gierach brings to us in Trout Bum is as fresh and engaging now was when it was first published twenty-five years ago. There's no telling how many anglers have quit their jobs and headed west after reading the first edition of this classic collection of fly-fishing essays"

Fishing Idaho : An Angler's Guide
by Joe Evancho

The book covers the significant bodies of water in Idaho where fish can be caught—more than 600, according to Evancho. It also tells you where, for an assortment of reasons, no fish will be found. "That," the author said, "is to keep you from wasting good fishing time."
Several sections of the book are dedicated to the selection of proper gear, tackle and equipment of all kinds. The most popular and seasonal fly patterns are also listed. The book provides an in-depth look at Idaho’s top ten fishing spots, which includes Henry’s Fork and South Fork of the Snake, Silver Creek, Middle Fork of the Salmon and Kelly Creek and more.

The rest of the easy-to-use book is a guide to fishing sites. It’s divided into eleven sections made up of the state’s seven major drainage regions. Each section includes a brief description of the region’s features and reference points. Each map shows waterways, cities, towns, interstate highways and state highways leading to fishing areas. Global positioning coordinates are also included for some mountain lakes.
