Antiques and Garage Sales

Do you live for the weekend garage and yard sales? Love thrifting and going to flea markets and vendor malls?  You are not alone!

According to encyclopedia.com, Americans host 6.5-9 million garage sales or yard sales every year.  Its estimated that 1.5-2 billion dollars are made each year, but most of that goes unreported to tax collection.  Most garage sales average only $100-$200 in profit though.

Database Deep Dive
NoveList Plus

NoveList Plus is a database designed to connect readers with new books and authors.  It essentially creates a number of pathways to discover new books.  The easiest way to use it is doing keyword searches, much like you would use our catalog.  Or you can choose a book or author you love and find read-alikes.  But the most interesting and unique way to use this database to find new reads is through their "appeal mixer."

Through the appeal mixer you can choose a category: Character, Illustration, Pace, Storyline, Tone, and Writing Style and then choose the description of that category you are looking for.
