I just want to update you all on the latest at the library. The staff will now be working Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. We are available to reach via the phone 596-6141 during those hours. You may also reach us via email at reference@wilbrahamlibrary.org and through our social media pages. Efforts will be made to check our email in the evenings and weekends, but please give us up to 24 hours to respond to your inquiry.
While you are not able to place anything on "Hold" at this time, our staff is working on a tutorial that we will share on how to use the "Lists" feature in Evergreen to track materials that you will want to request once full services resume.
We are contacting patrons who have items waiting and will attempt to mail out anything that is desired right away. (We will also keep items on the hold shelf for people to claim once we reopen).
Over the next week, we will be promoting our electronic resources heavily through our social media pages. If you would like to learn more about our ebooks, streaming services, and research databases, please feel free to call us and we can walk you through accessing them on our website.
We are also exploring some online programs to offer - namely a children's "Spring Reading Program" through the Beanstack app, Reader's Advisory services through Facebook, and more. I will announce details once we have things in place. If you have any thoughts on how the library can help you during this time, please feel free to email me directly with your suggestions.
One service that we have available on our website is The Great Courses. Now is the perfect time for you to learn something new. The Great Courses has a variety videos about history, travel, literature, art, music, and more!
Are you looking for something to do with kids? Check out TumbleBooks for interactive picture books, Teachables for worksheets and activity pages for K-6, and even Kanopy and Hoopla for family-friendly videos.
Thank you all for your continued patience. We miss seeing our patrons, but know that it is best for the health of the community for people to stay home and limit contact with others at this time.
I will keep you posted as the situation changes.
Regards,
Karen Demers
