Director Christopher Platt welcomes the community to an informal community meet and greet event at the Scotts Valley Branch Library. Director Platt wants to provide the public with an opportunity to learn about his experience leading libraries, to ask questions and exchange insights about the important role Santa Cruz Public Libraries play in the community. 
Working With What’s There: A Workshop With Teen Poet
Sylvi Kayser
 
This workshop for teens hones in on brainstorming topics to write about, how to produce poetry from everyday items, as well as utilizing poetry as a channel for inner thoughts and/or turmoil. No prior experience is necessary.

Friends of the Aptos Library Books & More Sale
 
Join us for a fantastic community event hosted by the Friends of the Aptos Library! Explore a wide variety of items for sale, including books for all ages, artwork, baked goods , plants and more! 
All proceeds support library programs and services.
Protect our Sandhills
 
This Community-led Learning program overviews an extremely rare and highly sensitive ecosystem here in the SC Mountains, the sandhills. We will learn about some of the specialized, and often threatened, plants and animals that occur here. Furthermore, we will discuss actions we can all take to help protect this unique landscape.

Triple P Workshop: Tantrums

Triple P – Positive Parenting Program gives parents simple and practical strategies to help them build strong, healthy relationships, confidently manage their children’s behavior and prevent problems developing. The topic for this month is tantrums.
CHP Workshops: Start Smart, and Age Well, Drive Smart

Join us for two driving classes at the Aptos Branch Library.
Age Well, Drive Smart is developed to assist senior drivers, 65 years of age and older, to continue to drive safely.
Smart Start is a driver education class for new drivers and their parents.

Saying It Out Loud: Poetry for an Audience with poet

Reading your work out loud requires a specific set of skills. Learn how to use inflection, pacing, volume and more to give your work the meaning it deserves for an appreciative group of listeners. This free program is for teens. 
Photo Management Workshop
 
Not sure what to do with all of your photos? Come learn how best to organize, store, and utilize your photography collection with Lisa Krigsman, a local member of the professional photo management organization The Photo Managers.

Sumi-e Japanese Ink
Painting Class
 
Join Carolyn Fitz at the Scotts Valley Branch Library for this introductory class of Sumi-e  or Japanese Ink Painting, a revered art form that uses Sumi- (black ink) and it’s values (ink with water).
Art supplies will be provided.
