Last fall, Eileen Schnarr joined the Everett Public Library as a youth services librarian. Here is what she had to say about herself: Random Fact: I’m a Seattle area native. I always thought I’d move somewhere sunnier but that hasn’t happened…yet. Favorite Book Series while Growing Up: Laura Ingalls Wilder "Little House on the Prairie" series. It was so much my favorite that my best friend and I played “pioneers” in our very own log cabin made out of firewood. Not to mention the hoopskirts and bonnets that went along with it! Pastimes (other than reading, of course): Yoga, skiing, hiking, road trips, swimming in the ocean, writing, and playing music. School: Go Dawgs! UW for MLIS, undergrad Spanish and English language Education degree. Jobs: I’ve taught and worked with kids since I was 15, when I started by teaching swim lessons. Since then, I’ve taught all grades K-12, and, most recently before coming to Everett, spent five years working in an elementary school library. Little Known Fact: I completed a draft of a middle-grade fantasy novel inspired by Deception Pass. The imaginary creatures, like a giant hedgehog-like animal that explodes when startled, are pretty cool. Pets: I have a cat named Yodi that loves to read, watch TV, eat earplugs, and talk with crows. She once dragged a one pound bag of lentils under my bed and shredded it. She’s also all black so I think she may be a witch in disguise.
