Lots of good things have been happening at your libraries, despite the fact that budget cuts and service reductions loomed large this past year. Read about the new Quiet Room at the Main Library, created in response to patron feedback during our strategic planning process.
STEM activity seems to be everywhere at both libraries, as our Children’s librarians and their young patrons have taken over the auditorium, the Activity Room, and even the Children’s area at Evergreen as they investigate gravity, inertia, and lots of other science concepts.
We’re also making changes to improve your library experience from the outside in—also in response to strategic plan feedback. We now have a beautiful native habitat at the Evergreen Branch. Coming soon to the Main Library: a rehabbed exterior elevator, brighter elevator lobby lighting, and gates to protect the area at night. I hope you like what you see in the coming months.

Joyce "grew up in Las Vegas and has a print journalism degree from the University of Nevada-Reno. After earning a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington Information School in 2008, she subbed for four Western Washington library systems, including Everett Public Library. She is now reading 'The Mad Woman in the Volvo: My Year of Raging Hormones' by Sandra Tsing Loh." After Elizabeth was "born in Paris, things went downhill. I spent three years in Waco, TX and the next 15 in South Carolina before escaping to Atlanta to attend art school, where I met my future husband. Tired of the weather there and ready for a new adventure we visited the Pacific Northwest in 1986. Blown away by its beauty, we moved to the Seattle area in 1987, then to Everett in 1993, which is when we got our treasured EPL library cards. I am very pleased to be working for the library with its great staff, and look forward to working with members of my own community."
