Virtual Opportunities
Click on the titles below for more information about each activity. Complete the activities and send them to us when finished. Only the diversity audit activity requires a spreadsheet that you will need to request. Your hours will be logged in our database and you can request them at any time. Contact Jen (jzappulla@rockyhillct.gov) for all inquiries.

Help us perform a diversity audit of the YA (teen) and children's chapter books in the library. You'll consult the internet to check certain criteria of each book as specified on each google sheet you will be provided. (for example is the main character differently- abled, LGBTQ, non-white, etc) You must contact Jzappulla@rockyhillct.gov if you are interested in this activity and a sheet with detailed instructions will be emailed to you. |
Want to be a book or movie critic? Submit written or recorded book and movie reviews for the library to use on our website or on social media channels. Get creative with making trailers- use animation, slideshows, or any other format you would like to explore.
Work independently or with others to create an original digital escape room for the library to share with the community. It can be a very simple one for young children and families, or one a bit more complex aimed at an older audience.
Create a sign or shelf talker advertising a book in our teen (YA) or children's collection. Create them by hand or use images from the internet. Get creative- why would someone want to read this book? You don't even have to read the book, you can gather the information you need from the internet.
We've got a library YouTube channel and we need content! What can you share with us? Show off your crafting abilities, dance moves, poetry reading, live book talks, or any other skill or passion you may have! Perform a skit that tells us why you love the library. Be creative!
Be a drama program helper or create a short script for us. Attend a virtual program for us and help get kids excited to act. Or think of an idea for a short skit and do your best to write one.
Help us celebrate library card sign up month by creating a promotional video about what you love about our library. Work with friends or independently. Use the free Scratch program or any other coding website to design your video.
Pick a topic that you are interested in and learn about it by doing some research. Think of ways to design a creative display and the library will provide the poster board backdrop. We'll display them at the library for our patrons to see.
