7 Ways to Participate
Contribute to Our Teen Zine
A Creative Online Publication

Use your creativity to help us put together some zines throughout the summer. A zine is a small-circulation, self-published work of original texts and images. Although zines can be photocopied to distribute, we will publish ours digitally through our website. Be creative! Submit original artwork of any kind! Examples include drawings, photography, written pieces or comics. Hopefully we can get enough submissions to put together a few zines this summer. If we have enough interest, we will form an editorial board that will help with the selection and layout. You will also have the opportunity to help with that.

Book and Movie Reviews

Want to be a book or movie critic? Submit written or recorded book and movie reviews for the library to use on our website or on social media channels. Get creative with making trailers- use animation, slideshows, or any other format you would like to explore.
Digital Escape Artist
Create a Digital Escape Room

Work independently or with others to create an original digital escape room for the library to share with the community. It can be a very simple one for young children and families, or one a bit more complex aimed at an older audience.
Book Cover Do-Over
Graphic Redesign Fun

An effective cover design doesn't just look good on shelves — it should also clearly communicate the title, signal the genre, and capture an appropriate audience for that book. This is why professional authors hire book cover designers to do the job right. Create a new cover for a book you love and share it with us to use as a library display and on social media.
Reader to Reader
Kenya Book Buddies

Did you know the library has a special connection with libraries in Africa! Choose a book from a selection that we are planning to send to our friends in Kenya.  Write a short review of it and a positive note to encourage reading. Introduce yourself and create a special personalized bookmark that we can include when we ship the books overseas.

Be a LEGO Guest
Show Off Your Skills

Are you a fan of LEGOs and enjoy making some cool creations? Be a special guest at our LEGO club Tuesdays at 3 pm- a program primarily for kids in grades K-5. You can encourage the young builders and share with them something special you’ve created. Can’t make a live appearance? Create a short video that we can share with the club. The library can also provide any LEGO materials.
Meet Someone New
Design a Cool Bookmark

Sure you’ve learned about all kinds of famous people in school doing cool stuff- but there are so many “lesser knowns” that are amazing too! Discover someone you never knew about and   create a bookmark that we can slip secretly into books that we check out. It will be an awesome surprise when they get a book and they can learn something new too!
