Bessye Bennett, from Connecticut Explored
|
Please Meet: Bessye Anita Bennett CT's First Licensed Black Female Attorney Bessye Bennett was born in Prairie View, Texas in 1938. She turned down Harvard Law School so her husband could get a PhD in mathematics. After moving to Hartford, CT, Bessye worked as a teacher. She earned a teaching degree from Trinity College in 1967 and later earned her law degree from UCONN Law School in 1973.
