If you’ve taken a Learn4Life course through New Hanover County Public Library’s website, you know you can pick from over 300 online courses and enroll free of charge with your NHC library card. Don't panic, but you won't see the Learn4Life link at www.nhclibrary.org anymore.  The lifelong learning resource formerly known as Learn4Life is now called Gale Courses. 

This rebranding is just a cosmetic change of name and logo. Gale Courses are the same instructor-led, college-level classes from the same company as before.
Gale Courses offers access to online learning courses anytime, anywhere you go online. Courses are free and easy to use, and cover many areas of interest. Sessions are six weeks long, with a new session beginning around the middle of every month. There's no limit to the number of courses you may take.

532 NHC Library users have enrolled in free online classes since we introduced this service in January 2014. These taxpayers would have spent $39,900 if they had enrolled through an online university.

Subscribing to Gale Courses for 14 months cost NHC Library $8,800, paid for by proceeds of Friends of the Library Book Sales.
