Autumn has crept in and there is a back to school feeling in the air, even for those of us not formally enrolled in any courses. This month we are bringing in some wonderful outside program providers for many tastes and ages. For adults, teens and tweens, we will have a Paper Flower Cutting Workshop with local art educator Jill Obrig. Obrig will bring this Polish craft tradition to us, and the library will provide all the materials.
We will have the engaging educators from Ulster County Resource Recovery come and teach us about home composting and the impact of composting food scraps. All those who attend will get a kitchen food scrap collection container. If you don’t yet compost, please feel encouraged, and if you do, maybe you will learn something new. Sign up on the website.
On October 19, musician and choir leader Deb Lan will lead a sing-along at the Park Heights housing development. The sing-along is open to all members of the community who are 65 and older. Please pre-register for the program, especially if you don’t live in Park Heights.
Just in time for Halloween, one of the programming committee members from the Rosendale Theatre, Bob Esposito, will give a talk on the history of horror films. Bob is responsible for the Creature Features series at the theater. We are hoping to offer a Halloween story hour and costume event toward the end of the month and are nailing down location details. We will send out another email mid-month once we figure it out.
Don't forget, the Food Fight goes through October 16. We collect for the Rosendale Food Pantry, so please bring in what you can to help us win the food fight.
The next Friends of Rosendale Library meeting is November 12th at 10am at Rosendale Library. Masks are required. Link for the Friends calendar page can be found here: http:/friendsofrl.org/events/
