January 2021 | RDPL eNewsletter

We hope your 2021 is off to a great start!
Despite the fact that we still can't open our doors to you (and we miss that so much!), we are thrilled to see so many of you using our contactless curbside pickup service to pick up holds and Kits to Go!

In case you are new to this, you can use our online catalogue (log in using your library barcode and PIN, which is usually set to the last four digits of your phone number) to place holds for pickup at the branch of your choice. You will be notified when they are ready for pickup! Check our library hours and give us a call when you arrive (preferred) or ring the bell outside the door and we will sign out your items and bring them to the library entrance. If you would like a Kit to Go, just ask and we will bring one out the very same way (if we still have them in stock!). For full details on our current COVID service levels, visit www.rdpl.org/covid19.

New Book Drop at the Dawe Branch!
One exciting bit of news to share is that we now have an exterior book drop at the Dawe Branch, which means that your library materials can be returned ANY TIME, not just during open hours (same thing goes at the Downtown and Timberlands Branches, by the way)! We are so thankful to our amazing Friends of the Red Deer Public Library for funding this important purchase for us.

Celebrate Family Literacy Day on January 27!
We’re putting together Family Literacy Day Book Bundles, featuring a selection of hand-picked, staff favourite picture books for your family to enjoy together and a copy of ABC Life Literacy Canada’s Family Literacy Day activity booklet, all packed inside one of our new RDPL book bags (borrow the books, keep the bag!). These will be available beginning on Monday, January 25, while supplies last, so come on down next week and grab one while you can! Call ahead to confirm availability, and be sure to have your library card number handy when you arrive, as the books will be checked out on your card to borrow for three weeks. If you need a renewal or a new card, click the link below.
