Teen Summer Reading Program 2024

Saturday, June 1 – Saturday, July 27

Bristol Public Library & Avoca Branch Library

Join one of three teams and submit reading logs and attend teen events to earn points for your team and prizes for yourself! Registration opens May 29.

Teen Summer Reading Kickoff Party: Saturday, June 8, 3:00 pm - 

5:00 pm. Kick off the summer with s’mores, crafts, and games!


Weekly Special Events: Thursdays, 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm.

·Paper Circuit Sculpture: June 13. Use copper tape, LED lights, and paper and cardboard to create your own illuminated art and sculptures.

·Cyanotype Printing: June 20. Create prints of plants and found objects using sunlight!

·Cook & Book Group – Bubble Tea: June 27. Make and drink bubble tea while reading from and discussing A Magic Steeped in Poison by Judy I. Lin, a fantasy novel about a magical tea-making competition. No reading in advance is required, and participants will get free copies of the book.

·DIY Terrariums July 11. Create your own mini terrarium in a glass jar.

·Escape Room July 18. Work together to find clues, solve puzzles, and open locks in order to escape the room!

·Cook & Book Group – Trail Mix: July 25. Make your own personalized trail mix snack while reading from and discussing Into the Sublime by Kate A. Boorman, a thriller about a group of teens exploring a dangerous cave system in search of an underground lake rumored to have special powers. No reading in advance is required, and participants will get free copies of the book.


Gaming Club: Wednesdays, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, June 5, 12, 26 & July 10, 17, 24. Hang out and play video games and board games!

·Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tournament: June 26, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

·Mario Kart 8 Tournament: July 24, 3:00 - 6:00 pm.


Art Club: Each month, join us to try out a different cool art technique!

·Bubble Painting: Saturday, June 15, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Mix paint with bubble solution to create cool abstract bubble art on paper or canvas.

·Crayon Melting: Saturday, July 13, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Melt crayons on a heated palette to use as wax paint on paper or canvas.


Knitwits: Thursday, June 6 & July 18, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Join us for a meeting of our fiber arts group! If you’re a beginner, come learn how to knit or crochet; we’ll provide supplies and a lesson. Otherwise, bring a project to work on and come hang out!


Board Game Club: Tuesday, June 18 & July 16, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Play board and card games and enjoy snacks! Choose from our variety of games or bring your favorites to share.


Dungeons & Dragons: Saturdays, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm, June 1, 15, 22, 29 & July 13, 20, 27. Come play a session of the tabletop role playing game DMed by a teen volunteer! No experience is necessary, but if you haven’t already been to any of our Saturday sessions, email amandaa@bristol-library.org or stop by the Teen Space for information on how to join and what you’ll need to be prepared.


LGBTeens: Our teen LGBTQ+ group meets twice monthly, with a Thursday night discussion group and a Tuesday night activity. LGBTQ+ teens and allies are invited to come socialize, learn, and have fun!
