COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

Development of the 761-acre Sandy Run Industrial Park is underway. In mid-2022, Red Rock Development broke ground on a speculative building in order to attract industry. The facility is the largest expandable spec building to ever be constructed, according to the company.

The spec building has now been fully leased by a warehousing company out of Missouri.

PURPLE MARTIN FESTIVAL 2023

Get Ready for the Purple Martin Festival

This year, the Purple Martin Festival will take place on Friday April 21 and Saturday April 22. That's right - 2 days of fun for the whole family!

SC State University Community Health Worker Training Program

SC State University has established a Community Health Worker (CHW) Training Program to recruit, train, and enable the next generation of minority Community Health Workers (CHWs) to address health disparity and improve health equity in rural SC. Please download the flyer here for more information.

PET OF THE MONTH

Each month, we will feature a dog that is currently available for adoption at the Calhoun County Animal Shelter. 

Star, 7 Months Old

This little lady was picked up with her 5 siblings after being dumped on the side of the road in a small remote town. She is more than likely not potty trained. Must go to a house different from her other siblings because they have formed a pack mindset.

Nonprofits who benefit Calhoun County can DOUBLE THEIR IMPACT by matching cash donations through Calhoun Gives.

Calhoun Gives is a local event that supports Central Carolina Community Foundation's Midlands Gives Day.
Midlands Gives Day is on Tuesday, May 3, 2023.
Registration in Calhoun Gives is free.

Calhoun Gives Campaign Planning & Work Sessions
Wed, Jan 11 & 18 - 2:30 PM
Thurs, Jan 12 & 19 - 5:30 PM
The sessions will focus on identifying donors and creating successful, tailored requests for financial support. Participants will also create visual resources that showcase the work the organization does in serving Calhoun County and create custom thank you cards to send to organizations and individuals that make gifts.
