Library to Close for Renovations Beginning Wednesday, July 24 Nancy Kay Holmes Branch Library The Library will close this Wednesday, July 24, to begin renovations that will help make the branch more accessible and energy efficient. During the closure, programs will be held at other Scranton Public Library locations or at local community centers. Patrons are encouraged to transfer their holds for pickup at any other Lackawanna County Library System location by logging on to their account online or by contacting the Library. Home Delivery is also available for patrons who would prefer to have materials delivered directly to their homes. Please call (570) 207-0764 with any questions. Manning's Ice Cream Fundraiser Happening Now Taylor Community Library Support the Library by purchasing gift certificates that can be used at Manning’s Farm Dairy locations. Certificates for pre-packaged half gallons of ice cream are available for $6 as well as vouchers for ice cream cakes for $21.50 each or ice cream pies for $16 each. You will be contacted when your certificates are available for pickup. Payment can be made by cash, card, or through Venmo (@Taylor-Library). Pickleball Tournament Saturday, September 14 / 9:00 A.M. Valley Community Library The Library would like to share an update about their upcoming Pickleball Tournament: the new date for this event will be Saturday, September 14 at 9:00 A.M. The Tournament will take place at the Blakely Recreation Complex with registration beginning at 8:45 A.M. The rain date will be Sunday, September 15. Cost is $50 per team. Art in the Park Tuesday, July 30 / 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. McDade Park Join area artists, musicians, and some of our librarians for a morning of activities and fun. Lackawanna County Arts and Culture invites families with children of all ages to enjoy art projects, music, and a StoryWalk while soaking up the beautiful summer weather in one of the County’s beautiful parks. Architectural Walking Tour Saturday, July 27 / 11:00 A.M. Join the Lackawanna Historical Society and start your weekend with some history. This free guided tour provides residents and visitors with a chance to learn more about Scranton’s magnificent architecture and the stories of buildings and neighborhoods they pass every day. This Saturday’s tour will begin at Radisson Lackawanna Station and proceed through the city’s Commercial and "Red Lights" District. There will be more upcoming walking tours in August, including the Gothic District on August 10 and the Lower Hill Section on August 24.
