Candle Making Workshop On Tuesday, November 8 at 6:30 p.m., join Gariné Arakelian for a candle making workshop at Leach Library. In this workshop, adult participants (ages 18+) will learn about different types of candles and waxes, wick sizes, heat resistant containers and their sizes, and the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils. Each participant will make one container candle using soy wax and can choose from a variety of seasonally-inspired fragrance oils. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Commercial Art, Gariné Arakelian developed and instituted a curriculum for youth classes at Worcester Art Museum, Fitchburg Art Museum, and Worcester Center for Crafts. In addition to candle making, she also works in the mediums of pottery, clay tiles, paper quilling, skin care, soap making, and more. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Londonderry Leach Library. Registration is required and begins on Tuesday, November 1. A History of Joni Mitchell On Thursday, November 17 at 7:00 p.m., join us in the Leach Library meeting room for a musical performance and presentation on the life of Joni Mitchell. Presenters Chris Albertson and Cait Murphy will discuss Joni's personal and professional life, as well as her collaborations and influences on other artists. Cait Murphy is a versatile singer whose unique and soulful voice embraces jazz, blues, and pop/rock. She has also worked as a folk-oriented lyricist and songwriter. Chris Albertson is a jazz guitarist, composer, and percussionist who has been featured on stages and functions throughout New England for over thirty years. Library After Dark Movie Night On Friday, November 18 from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m., Leach Library will host a special after-hours movie night in the main reading room! Join the library staff for a showing of the 2022 murder mystery film Death on the Nile (rated PG-13) along with refreshments and raffle prizes.
