The Leach Library and Derry Public Library are teaming up to bring you Jeff Belanger’s Ghosts and Legends program at the Derry Opera House on Wednesday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m. This ghostly multi-media program will take you on a journey through the haunts in your backyard and around the world. Becoming Wolf: Eastern Coyotes in New Hampshire Myths surround coyotes and cloud our understanding of them. On Thursday, October 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the Leach Library Meeting Room, Chris Schadler will discuss coexistence strategies. Chris has 40 years of experience in wolf and coyote research, sheep farming, and teaching. She will demonstrate that “knowledge is power” when it comes to living with coyotes. Tarot 101 Come to the Leach Library on Tuesday, October 10 at 6:00 p.m. to learn about tarot with professional tarot reader and astrologer Kate Sheridan (aka The Laundress). This is a lecture-style program with Q&A woven throughout. The presentation will cover basic tarot instruction and theory. Crafternoon Crafternoon is back as a monthly 90-minute meeting at the Leach Library! On Wednesday, October 11 at 4:00 p.m., bring your own craft project and supplies, and work alongside other local crafters. No registration is required. Solar Eclipse Live Stream Viewing The Leach Library will host a live stream viewing of the annular solar eclipse in the library’s meeting room from 12:00 – 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 14. Patrons may drop in any time during the program to watch coverage of the eclipse. During the program, a variety of activities and crafts will be available to complete at the library or take home. Attendees will receive a free pair of solar eclipse glasses while supplies last. Registration is not required for this program. |

Library After Dark On Friday, October 27 at 6:00 p.m., Leach Library will host an after-hours movie night in the main reading room! Meet Beetlejuice, the ghost with the most, in the 1988 Halloween favorite directed by Tim Burton (rated PG). Pizza and refreshments will be served while supplies last, and raffle prizes will be provided.

Puzzle Exchange Start saving your puzzles! The Leach Library Puzzle Exchange is coming back in October. From Monday, October 23 through Saturday, October 28, drop off your jigsaw puzzle donations at the main desk during library operating hours. The library will accept gently-used jigsaw puzzles for any age with any size, shape, and piece count. In exchange, the library staff will provide a voucher indicating how many puzzles you contributed. On Monday, October 30, return to the library with your voucher between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to select your new puzzles! For further information, call the library at (603) 432-1132.

Mystery Lovers Book Discussion Do you love mystery? Then this is the book discussion for you! Come to the Leach Library on Monday, October 23 at 11:30 a.m. to discuss Jesse Q. Hanging Dementor Craft Teens and tweens are invited to a Harry Potter-inspired craft on Tuesday, October 3 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the Leach Library Meeting Room. Participants will create their own hanging Dementor lanterns using a variety of craft supplies.

Dungeons & Dragons Calling all teen and tween adventurers! Join the Dragoneers Club for a standalone quest on Monday, October 23 from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. in the Leach Library Meeting Room. All experience levels welcome!

Library After Dark for Teens: Murder Mystery Dinner On Friday, October 13 from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m., teens age 13-18 are invited to a special after-hours murder mystery dinner party at the library. Participants will take on the role of vampires, sorcerers, humans, and werewolves to solve a murder and save the world from impending doom! The game will include materials from the game Factions: A Murder Mystery by My Mystery Party. The program includes dinner and refreshments. Please share any food allergies at the time of registration. All participants are encouraged to dress up in costume or formal wear for the evening. Roles will be assigned upon arrival.

Potions Class Teens and tweens are invited to a Harry Potter-inspired potion bottle sensory craft on Tuesday, October 17 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the Leach Library Meeting Room. Participants will use an assortment of potion-themed supplies to create sensory bottles to take home.

Space Rangers Get ready to blast off into a new adventure on Thursday, October 19 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Leach Library Meeting Room. During this one-hour space-themed program, students ages 9-14 will explore different space science topics through hands-on activities and games.

Coding Club On Wednesday, October 25 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m., students in grades 4-8 will be able to explore a variety of coding exercises and programs including using screen-free coding robots, independent online coding, and other guided activities online.

Strange Happenings Teens and tweens are invited to a Stranger Things-inspired Halloween party on Tuesday, October 31 from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. in the Leach Library Meeting Room. Participants will enjoy some treats and activities inspired by Hawkins and the Upside Down.
