 June 24 - August 5 Blind Date with a book is back for the summer! Choose from a large selection of potential book dates. Take your date home, and determine if it’s True Love, or Just a Summer Fling. Each date comes with a Date Rating Card. Return the card to the library and be entered to win two tickets to see Grease on July 30 at The Broadway Theatre of Pitman. If you don’t win the tickets, you still have a chance to win a Grease gift basket in August! There is no limit to how many dates you can go on and each date card returned gives you another chance at winning! The prizes are limited to Heggan adult cardholders, but anyone can check out one of our dates. All Rate Your Date cards must be returned by August 13. Drawing for the Grease tickets will take place on July 17. The drawing for the basket will be on September 1. The Grease tickets were made possible thanks to financial support from the Friends of the Margaret E. Heggan Free Public Library. |

Gaming Discussion Group: Shadows of Doubt

Functional Foods For Life: Bringing Vegetables to The Table, A Celebration of the Harvest

Research on vegetables as a whole to determine their potential health benefits has been ongoing. Overall, it has been well established that the intake of vegetables are beneficial to health and there is convincing evidence that they contribute to the prevention of CHD, HTN, stroke and certain types of cancer. In addition to a review of health benefits, this session also explores interesting facts and historical information about vegetables, as well as ways to store and prepare them. As a nation, we are not doing too well when it comes to meeting vegetable recommendations. Discover and share new, creative ways to encourage an increase in vegetable intake. Braver Angels- Depolarizing Within Workshop

Braver Angels seeks to depolarize American politics. Their work is rooted in grassroots organizing. From the grassroots, however, their volunteer leaders (supported by a small staff) leverage Braver Angels programs and unique organizing structure to impact community life and American institutions. The Depolarizing Within Workshop is designed to foster skills to help you lessen the effects of polarization when you encounter them in your political conversations. Goals To teach participants: How to be more aware of their own "inner polarizer" How to be critical without demonizing, dismissing or stereotyping large swaths of the population Strategies for intervening constructively in social conversations with like-minded peers when these conversations veer into contempt and ridicule for people who hold other political views. This workshop will be held in our adult meeting room. All adults are welcome.
