Summer Reading continues through July 30
Rodman Public Library's Oceans of Possibilities summer reading program continues through July 30. Teens have until then to accumulate their reading hours and complete challenges to earn chances to win one of three grand prizes -- a $100 Amazon gift card, a $100 GameStop gift card or a Nintendo Switch Lite.

Read All About the Teen Book Club If you are a teen who likes to read, you should come to a meeting of the Teen Book Club. The group meets every third Monday of the month at 4:00 p.m. at the Main Library and is led by Jaime Gross. Joining the group doesn't mean a commitment to attend each meeting. Lovely War is July Book Club Selection Rodman Public Library invites all teens who love to read to join the Teen Book Club. The group meets on the third Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the conference room at the Main Library. Led by Jaime Gross, the next meeting will be on Monday, July 18, and the selected title will be Lovely War by Julie Berry. Teen Writing Club Sponsors Summer Writing Contest Calling all teen writers: Rodman Public Library wants to read your work. Any teen, ages 12-18, can submit one (1) short story for the contest, but the teen must be able to come into the Main Library to pick up their prize, which will include a $25 Amazon gift card for first place and a $10 gift card for the runner-up. Every teen who enters the contest will receive a free book.

Nerf Night Returns July 7 Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to attend Nerf Night from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 7. Teens should start to assemble in the Main Library auditorium at 5:15 p.m. for the after-hours event. Participants may bring in their own Nerf weapons or use some provided by the library. Watch The Perfect Storm on RPL's Big Screen July 12 Rodman Public Library’s Summer Movie Series continues in July when it will show The Perfect Storm on the big screen inside the Main Auditorium on Tuesday, July 12 at 5:30 p.m. Starring Mark Wahlberg and George Clooney, The Perfect Storm is a 2000 American biographical disaster drama film based on the 1997 non-fiction book of the same title. It tells the story of a commercial fishing vessel that was lost at sea with all hands after being caught in a 1991 storm. It is 2 hours and 10 minutes long and is rated PG-13. The movie is free and the library will provide popcorn to those attending. No registration is required to attend, but children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Teen Writing Teens who have an interest in writing are encouraged to join Rodman Public Library for the Teen Writing Club that meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 3:30 p.m. at the Main Library. The next sessions are planned for July 13 and July 27. Have fun meeting with your fellow teen writers to exchange ideas, hone your skills and share your work, if desired. No registration is required. Teen Anime Club All teens, ages 12-18, are invited to Rodman Public Library on select Tuesdays of each month for Teen Anime Club. The next session will be Tuesday, July 26 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Teens will have the chance to pick their favorite episodes to be shown on RPL's big screen.
