Use Your Senses Scavenger Hunt The Use Your Senses Fall Scavenger Hunt is on! Children can pick up a checklist at the Main or Branch libraries for things they must look for, listen for, smell, taste, and touch to complete the hunt. Children will get a food coupon for turning in their sheets and one lucky child will win a $10 gift card. The hunt will run September 5 through September 30.

Lego Lab Kids who like building with blocks won’t want to miss Lego Lab at Rodman Public Library. The program, intended for children ages 6-12, will debut on Wednesday, September 13 at 6 p.m. During the part of the hour-long event, kids will fcreate a candy factory in honor of the birthday of Roald Dahl, author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Participants will also have the opportunity to create whatever they would like using Legos provided by the library during the evening. Led by Hayley Driver, the program is free, thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library, but registration is required.

Fakemon Creations Are you a fan of Pokémon? Do you have some ideas for characters? Are you a kid that’s 7-12 years old? If you answered yes to all three of those questions, Rodman Public Library is the place you need to be from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 21. During that hour, kids will have the opportunity to first design a Fakemon, an original creature inspired by the Pokémon franchise, and then create a model of it out of clay. The afternoon will be complete with Pokémon-inspired snacks and games. Registration is required.

Wee Read Fall Wee Read, which will run between September 11 and November 15, is offered every Monday at 6:30 p.m. and every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Children, ages birth through two years, and their parents or caregivers are invited to attend. Wee Read includes stories, fingerplays, music and movement. No registration is required. NOTE: Registration is NOT required to attend any Wee Read, Family Fun Night, or Storytime sessions.

Family Fun Night Each Tuesday between September 12 and November 14, parents or caregivers and their children, ages 3 to 12, are invited to participate in an entertaining and educational evening in Rodman Main Children’s Department as part of Family Fun Night. The fun starts at 6:30 p.m. with stories before participants break into small groups to visit various stations where they will play games, complete challenges and create crafts that will provide fun for all ages.

Storytime Children, ages 3-5, and their parents or caregivers are invited to attend Storytime sessions this fall at Rodman Public Library. Morning sessions will be held each Thursday at 10:30 a.m. between September 14 and November 16 at the Main Library. Evening session are held each Tuesday between September 12 and November 14 at 6:30 p.m. as part of Family Fun Night. Storytime sessions are intended to encourage lifelong readers through stories, music, movementand activities.

Madden 24 Tournament Are you ready for some video game football? All gamers, ages 10 to 18, are invited to participate in a Madden Tournament on Thursday, September 7 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Head-to-head games will be played on the PS5 or Xbox Series X and will feature three-minute quarters on all pro difficulty.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers. Participants should start arriving at 3 p.m. to register and to practice.

Use Your RPL Card in September for a Chance to Win Gift Cards September is Library Card Sign-Up Month and RPL will reward two lucky RPL cardholders. One adult (13 and older) and one child (12 and younger) will win a package of gift cards good at local businesses for registering for a new card, renewing an expired card, or simply using a card in good standing during September. |

Book Club Meets September 20 Rodman Public Library invites children,
ages 8-12, to join the Kids Book Club, which meets on the third Wednesday of each month. Eliza Bing Is (Not) A Big, Fat Quitter by Carmella Van Vleet is the selected title for the September 20 meeting. Registration is required for each session, which includes a brief discussion of the book, a fun activity and a snack, which will be pizza in July.

Kids Gaming Kids Gaming is held on the first Wednesday of each month at Rodman Public Library in the Main Library Auditorium. From 4 to 5 p.m., children, ages 8-12, are treated to open play of video games, Minecraft, etc. on devices provided by the library. The next session is Wednesday, September 6. Kids Crafting Rodman Public Library’s monthly Kids Crafting program continues at 4 p.m. Thursday, September 14 when children, ages 7-12, are invited to come to the Main Library and create a fall macrame wall hanging. All materials used during monthly kids crafting programs are provided for free thanks to the Friends of Rodman Public Library. Registration is required. Branch Take and Make During September, children can stop by the Rodman Branch Library to pick up a candy corn necklace take and make project. All supplies for the craft are included as well as step-by-step instructions, thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library. Supplies are limited and will be given out at a first come, first served basis.

Hot Pots Storytime Hot Pots Storytime is back. Two sessions will be held in September with pumpkins being the theme, including Wednesday, September 20 at 6:30 p.m. and another on Saturday, September 23 at 11 a.m. Children, ages 3-12, are invited to come to the Branch for a mini storytime and then proceed to Hot Pots, accompanied by their guardian, to paint tea light pumpkin lantern. The cost is $15 per child and registration is required. The fee for the event is payable to Hot Pots upon registration at hotpotspottery.com.
