ON THE RPL BIG SCREEN
Movie Night is March 7
 
Rodman Public Library’s Movie Night is one that will be fun for the entire family when it screens Puss in Boots: The Last Wish on
Tuesday, March 7.
 
In the 2022 animated Dreamworks production, Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for adventure has taken its toll and he has used up eight of his nine lives and embarks on an epic quest to restore them by finding
the mythical Last Wish.
 
The film, which runs 1 hour and 42 minutes and is rated PG, will start at 5:30 p.m. No registration is required to attend the free movie, which is open to patrons of all ages. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
 
Freshly popped popcorn will be provided thanks to the Friends of Rodman Public Library.

15Book Club Meets March 15

Rodman Public Library invites children,
ages 8-12, to join the Kids Book Club,
which meets on the third Wednesday of each month. 
 
Starring Jules (As Herself) 
by Beth Ain is the selected title
for the March 20  meeting.
 
Registration is required for each session, which includes a brief discussion of the book, a fun activity and a snack.

Kids Gaming
 
Due to scheduling conflicts, Kids Gaming at Rodman Public Library will be held on dates other than the usual first Wednesday of every month during the months of March and April.
 
The March session will be held Thursday, March 2, and the April date is Wednesday, April 12. All Kids Gaming sessions run from 4 to 5 p.m. inside the Rodman Public Library Auditorium.
 
In May, Kids Gaming will resume its regular meeting date of the first Wednesday of each month from 4 to 5 p.m.
 
During Kids Gaming, children ages 8-12 are treated to open play of video games, Minecraft, etc. on devices provided by the library.

Kids Crafting
 
Rodman Public Library’s monthly Kids Crafting program continues Thursday, March 16 when children, ages 7-12, are invited to come to the Main Library and create a leprechaun.
 
All materials used during monthly kids crafting programs are provided for free, thanks to the Friends of Rodman Public Library.
 
Registration is required.
 
Wee Read

Rodman Public Library hosts Wee Read sessions every Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. and every Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m.  Children, ages birth through two years, and their parents or caregivers are invited to attend. Wee Read includes stories, fingerplays, music and movement. No registration is required. For more information, call the Main Library Children's Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223. 
Family Fun Night
 
Each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., parents or caregivers and their children, ages 3 to 12, are invited to participate in an entertaining and educational evening in Rodman Main Children's Department as part of Family Fun Night. There will be stories before participants break into small groups to visit various stations where they will play games, complete challenges and create crafts that will provide fun for all ages. Storytime

Children, ages 3-5, and their parents or caregivers are invited to attend Storytime sessions held each Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Main Library. Evening Storytime sessions are held each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. as part of Family Fun Nights at the Main Library. Storytime is intended to encourage lifelong readers through stories, music, movement and activities. For more information, contact the Children's Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.
GET CRAFTY AT THE BRANCH
Hot Pots Storytime 
 
Storytime with Hot Pots at the Rodman Branch Library continues in March with
a shamrock theme.
 
Two sessions are planned, including one on Wednesday, March 1 from 6: 30 to 7:30 p.m., and another on
Saturday, March 4 from 11 a.m. to noon.
 
Children, ages 3-12, will come to the Branch for a mini storytime and then proceed to Hot Pots, accompanied by their guardian, to paint a shamrock dish. 
 
The cost is $15 per child and registration is required. The fee for the event is payable
to Hot Pots upon registration at hotpotspottery.com

Branch Take and Make 
 
Starting Wednesday, March 1, children can stop by the Rodman Branch Library to pick up a frog door knob hanger craft take and make project. All supplies for the craft are included as well as step-by-step instructions, thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library. Supplies are limited and will be given out at a first come, first served basis. 
LIBRARY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Friends of RPL Sponsor Self-Defense Seminar Fundraiser
 
The Friends of Rodman Public Library is sponsoring a self-defense seminar fundraiser in March.
 
The two-hour event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 22 inside the Rodman Main Auditorium. The cost is $20 and anyone 12 years and older can sign up to take part in the class.
 
The class will be taught by Wayne Burley, an area native who is the owner of C.O.B.R.A. Defense Canton. He has 36 years of experience in defensive tactics instruction and is a sixth-degree master level instructor in martial arts.
 
Burley, who holds a degree in education from Malone College and a Master’s of Science in Fitness Management from the United States Sports Academy, has been teaching since 1984 and was recently inducted into the United States Kido Federation Black Belt Hall of Fame.
 
During the two-hour seminar at Rodman Library, participants will learn the following:

  • What does AAA Mean?
  • Importance of Using Your Voice
  • Understanding Criminal Intent
  • S.A.E. It- How it Works
  • Threat Recognition
  •  Physical Skills and Techniques that Actually Work
