Summer Reading 2023 The 2023 Summer Reading Program is right around the corner. With a theme of "All Together Now," Rodman Public Library encourages all of its patrons -- young, mature, and everyone in between -- to take part in the program and earn chances to win some fun prizes.

Bottle Cap Mural On Display A unique piece of artwork will be on display at Rodman Public Library during May. From May 8 through May 26, a bottle cap mural created by students at the Alliance Intermediate School under the direction of art teacher Renee Marincheck, will be exhibited inside the gallery at RPL.
The mural, which measures 12 feet wide and 8 feet tall, contains approximately 9,792 bottle of different sizes and colors that were collected by students, families, and area businesses and civic organizations.
Other mural materials were donated by Carter Lumber, Sherwin Williams and Home Depot of Streetsboro.
Approximately 400 students had a part in creating the mural by collecting, sorting, painting and individually attaching the caps to the mural with a screw. They were aided by 13 volunteers who helped the students drill holes.

Books and Coffee The Books and Coffee Book Club usually meets every second Monday of the month at the Rodman Branch Library. Led by Charlene Duro, the next book club meeting will be on Monday, May 8 when the selected title will be Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt Copies are available at the Main and Branch libraries, through the library's catalog, or digitally through the Ohio Digital Library and Hoopla. True Crime Junkies The True Crime Junkies, a book discussion group led by reference librarian Ashley Mock, meets at 6:30 p.m. every third Tuesday of the month at the Main Library. The selection for the May 16 meeting is The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper by Hallie Rubenhold. Family Movie Night Rodman Public Library will screen another superhero adventure during Family Movie Night in May when it shows Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on Tuesday, May 23 at 5:30 p.m. In the 2023 action comedy, Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne, along with Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, explore the Quantum Realm, where they interact with strange creatures and embark on an adventure that goes beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.The movie is rated PG-13 and runs 2 hours and 4 minutes.
Attending the film is free and freshly popped popcorn will be provided thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library. No registration is required, however, children under 13 years old must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Alliance Vinyl Club Alliance Vinyl Club will meet at Rodman Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3. Although it is called a club, there is no formal membership and no registration is required to attend the program, which is open to all music lovers. Those attending are encouraged to bring in some of their favorite records to play for others. The monthly program, which is held on the first Wednesday of every month and is supported by Friends of Rodman Public Library, is led by Byrun Reed and provides the opportunity to listen to music, hang out, and make new friends. Maker Monday crafters will decorate a wooden birdhouse when they meet Monday, May 15 at 7 p.m. in Rodman Public Library’s Main Auditorium. Led by Nicole Brown, Maker Monday is an in-person craft program for adults that is held monthly on select Mondays. All materials are provided free of charge, thanks to Friends of Rodman Library, but space is limited and registration is required for each session.

RPL Resumes Notary Services Beginning Monday, May 1, Rodman Public Library will resume offering notary services to the public. Area residents who need documents, excluding titles, notarized should call 330-821-2665, ext. 202 to schedule an appointment. Services will be rendered at the Main Library and patrons must have a valid Ohio ID with them at their appointment.
