Trivia Night Planned Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to take part in a Trivia Night on Thursday, February 16 at Rodman Public Library. From 3 to 5 p.m., teens in teams of three or four will compete in a trivia contest of random questions in games based on the format of popular game shows such as Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! for one score. The teams will also be scored on a scavenger hunt in which they will be tasked in finding things around the library. The team with the top combined score at the end of the night will receive a prize. Movie Matinee is February 11 Rodman Public Library will host a Saturday matinee movie on February 11 when it screens Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on the big screen in the Main Auditorium. In the 2022 Marvel blockbuster, Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M'Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje fight to protect the kingdom of Wakanda from intervening world powers in the wake of King T'Challa's death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross and forge a new path for their nation. The film, which runs 2 hours and 41 minutes and is rated PG-13, will start at 1 p.m. No registration is required to attend the free movie, which is open to patrons of all ages. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Freshly popped popcorn will be provided thanks to the Friends of Rodman Public Library. Teen Advisory Board Teens who want to help shape services and programs at Rodman Public Library are encouraged to join the Teen Advisory Board. A meeting will be held in the Main Library conference room from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7 for teens, ages 12-18, who are interested in joining. The group meets regularly on the first Tuesday of each month to discuss ideas for programming and the library's collection for teens. Hours spent attending Teen Advisory Board meetings and helping with projects will count as volunteer hours.

Inkheart is February Book Club Selection Rodman Public Library invites all teens who love to read to join the Teen Book Club. The group meets on the third Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the conference room at the Main Library. Led by Jaime Gross, the next meeting will be on Monday, February 20, and the selected title will be Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. Copies are available at the Main Library or digitally through the Ohio Digital Library/Libby, Axis360 or Hoopla. No registration required.

Teen D and D Opportunities at RPL Teens, 12-18, can sign up at Rodman Public Library to participate in an ongoing series of "one-shot" Dungeons and Dragons missions every month based on the Candlekeep Mysteries sourcebook. Players do not have to play consistently each month to participate. Those interested can sign up on a month-to-month basis. Space will be limited each month to six players. A DnD Beyond account and email address is required to play. The next session will be held Monday, February 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Main Library. Sessions are held on the second Monday of the month. October’s adventure will feature players on a quest to explore a mysterious adventure. Teen Writing Teens who have an interest in writing are encouraged to join Rodman Public Library for the Teen Writing Club. The group, which normally meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. at the Main Library, will be meeting on the first and fourth week of February due to a scheduling conflict with the next sessions planned for February 1 and February 22. Teen Gaming Area teens, ages 12-18, are invited to Rodman Public Library every other Thursday to play their favorite video games on the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Playstation 3 & 4, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo WiiU. Sessions this month will be held on February 9 and February 23 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Main Auditorium. Teens will have the opportunity to play a different game each week. Games with ratings from "E" for Everyone, up to "T" for Teen level will be offered. No registration is required for these free gaming events. Video gaming is in partnership with Synergy Alliance.

Teen Anime Club All teens, ages 12-18, are invited to Rodman Public Library on fourth Tuesday of each month for Teen Anime Club. The next session will be Tuesday, February 28 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Teens will have the chance to pick their favorite episodes to be shown on RPL's big screen. One Book One Community Events Three One Book One Community programs leading up to the author Melanie Benjamin's visit on Thursday, March 23 are on the calendar. The Children's Blizzard is a tale of survival that revolves around schoolhouses and a winter weather event, and the programs do as well. On February 21, local Scout Troops will provide tips on winter survival. On March 6, Rodd Hyde will discuss area one-room schoolhouses of the 19th century. On March 11, Youngstown meteorologist Eric Wilhelm will visit RPL to talk about his job and the science of forecasting.

Author to Discuss Underground Railroad in Ohio In their first collaboration for 2023, the Haines House Underground Railroad Museum (operated by the Alliance Area Preservation Society), and the Alliance Historical Society will present author Kathy Schulz to discuss her new book, The Underground Railroad in Ohio, in the auditorium at Rodman Public Library onTuesday, February 7, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. The program will take the format of an informal, sit-down conversation with AAPS President Robb Hyde on the auditorium stage. The program is presented in partnership with Rodman Library. The program is free and open to the public, but reservations are required.
