OSU Professor to Discuss Connection Between Black History and Black Music Rodman Public Library will mark Juneteenth with a special presentation by Dr. William "Ted" McDaniel, a professor of African-American studies and professor of music at the Ohio State University. A specialist in African-American music and jazz performance, McDaniel will speak on the topic of "Understanding Black History Through Black Music" inside Rodman Auditorium on Monday, June 20 at 7:00 p.m.

Books and Coffee Rodman Public Library's Books and Coffee Book Club meets every second Monday of the month at the Rodman Branch Library. Led by Charlene Duro, the next book club meeting will be on Monday, June 13 at 6:30 p.m. when the selected title will be People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry. True Crime Junkies The True Crime Junkies, a book discussion group led by reference librarian Ashley Mock, usually meets at 6:30 p.m. every third Tuesday of the month at the Main Library. The June meeting will be held on the second Tuesday, however, due to a scheduling conflict. The selection for the June 14 meeting is The Killer Across the Table: Unlocking the Secrets of Serial Killers and Predators with the FBI's Original Mindhunter by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker. Summer Movie Series has Ocean Theme Rodman Public Library will host a Summer Movie Series in 2022, showing a family movie each month -- on June 6, July 12 and August 1 -- on the big screen in the Main Auditorium. In conjunction with the Oceans of Possibilities summer reading program, all three films will have an ocean theme.

Play Family BINGO at RPL Rodman Public Library will host two Family BINGO games this summer. Patrons of all ages are invited to play from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 27. Maker Monday Maker Monday crafters will decorate a summer tote bag when they meet Monday, June 13 at 7:00 p.m. in Rodman Public Library's Main Auditorium. Led by Nicole Brown, Maker Monday is an in-person craft program for adults that is held monthly on select Mondays. Animal Crossing Cafe The Animal Crossing Cafe will be open inside Rodman Auditorium from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 18. Patrons of all ages are invited to bring in their Nintendo Switch and Animal Crossing game and socialize with others who play the game while enjoying refreshments provided by the library. To make best use of their time, patrons are encouraged to have their game updated. While hanging out, those attending can visit Rodman Public Library's island as well as others. Alliance Vinyl Club If you collect vinyl records and like listening to them with others, then you need to join the Alliance Vinyl Club on Wednesday, June 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Auditorium at Rodman Public Library. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to spin their favorite records. Due to time limitations, only a few selections per person will be played. A turntable will be provided, but we ask that you handle your personal records and assume any liability for normal wear and scratches. Alliance Vinyl Club, which meets every fourth Wednesday of the month, provides the opportunity to listen to music, talk and hang out. No registration is required. " What Tree Is It?" is among more than 75 databases in more than 20 categories that can be found on the Rodman Library website at rodmanlibrary.com/databases, The database allows users to identify Ohio trees by name, leaf, or fruit. Friends of RPL to Hold Membership Meeting
The Friends of Rodman Public Library will hold its annual membership meeting at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11 in the Main Auditorium. The meeting will consist of various committee reports. A raffle will also be held during the business meeting. All members of the Friends of Rodman Public Library are encouraged to attend the free meeting, which is open to the public. Refreshments will be served and a musical performance titled "Books and Such" will be given by Marsha Graham following the meeting.

Justice Bus to Visit RPL The Ohio Justice Bus, a mobile legal aid office and technology hotspot, will visit the Rodman Public Library on Friday, June 17. From 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the bus, which is partnering with OhioKAN, will be parked in the Main Library parking lot to offer free brief advice clinics to Alliance-area residents. Those who visit will have the opportunity to talk privately to an attorney about family law issues related to adoption and kinship care. Services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
