Celebrate National Library Week at RPL Rodman Library encourages all community members to come in for a visit during National Library Week, April 23-29, to get the full story about what's going on your local library. Cardholders who borrow any materials will also get an entry into a special drawing. Upon checkout, patrons will receive an entry ticket and will choose whether they would rather win a $50 Amazon gift card or a family day pass to Funtimes Fun Park in Alliance. Winners will be chosen in May.

Book Club Meets April 19 Rodman Public Library invites children,
ages 8-12, to join the Kids Book Club, which meets on the third Wednesday of each month. The Notebook of Doom: Rise of the Balloon Goons by Troy Cummings is the selected title for the April 19 meeting. Registration is required for each session, which includes a brief discussion of the book, a fun activity and a snack.

Kids Gaming Due to scheduling conflicts, Kids Gaming at Rodman Public Library will be held on a date other than the usual first Wednesday of every month during the months of March and April. The April session will be held on Wednesday, April 12. All Kids Gaming sessions run from 4 to 5 p.m. inside the Rodman Public Library Auditorium. In May, Kids Gaming will resume its regular meeting date of the first Wednesday of each month from 4 to 5 p.m. During Kids Gaming, children ages 8-12 are treated to open play of video games, Minecraft, etc. on devices provided by the library. Kids Crafting Rodman Public Library’s monthly Kids Crafting program continues Thursday, April 6 when children, ages 6-12, are invited to come to the Main Library and decorate a spring basket and maybe even get a treat to put in it. All materials used during monthly kids crafting programs are provided for free, thanks to the Friends of Rodman Public Library. Registration is required.

Wee Read Rodman Public Library's Winter Wee Read will be held for the final week during the first wweek of April before taking a break until the fall.
Wee Read will be held on Monday, April 3 at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, April 5 at 10:30 a.m. Children, ages birth through two years, and their parents or caregivers are invited to attend. Family Fun Night Family Fun Night will be held for the on Tuesday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m. for the final time before taking a break until the fall. Parents or caregivers and their children, ages 3 to 12, are invited to participate in an entertaining and educational evening in Rodman Main Children's Department as part of Family Fun Night. There will be stories before participants break into small groups to visit various stations where they will play games, complete challenges and create crafts that will provide fun for all ages. Storytime Winter Storytime will be held during the first week of April before taking a break until the fall.
Children, ages 3-5, and their parents or caregivers are invited to attend Storytime on Thursday. April 6 at 10:30 a.m. at the Main Library. Evening Storytime will be held Tuesday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m. as part of Family Fun Night at the Main Library. Hot Pots Storytime Storytime with Hot Pots at the Rodman Branch Library continues in April with an Easter theme. Two sessions are planned, including one on Wednesday, April 5 from 6: 30 to 7:30 p.m., and another on Saturday, April 8 from 11 a.m. to noon. Children, ages 3-12, will come to the Branch for a mini storytime and then proceed to Hot Pots, accompanied by their guardian, to paint a spring duck candy dish. Branch Take and Make Starting Saturday, April 1, children can stop by the Rodman Branch Library to pick up a cool bunny magnet craft take and make project. All supplies for the craft are included as well as step-by-step instructions, thanks to Friends of Rodman Public Library. Supplies are limited and will be given out at a first come, first served basis.

One of RPL’s online databases, Science Reference Center provides full text for hundreds of science magazines, journals, reference books and more than 2,000 high-quality videos. The database also contains more than 1,000 science experiments as well as curriculum-aligned lesson plans, and a vast image collection. Topics covered include biology, chemistry, earth and space science, environmental science, health and medicine, history of science, life science, physics, science and society, science as inquiry, scientists, technology and wildlife.
