STICKNEY-FOREST VIEW PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT OCTOBER 2022 | Events & Updates 6800 W. 43rd Street, Stickney, IL 60402 (708) 749-1050 www.sfvpld.org |
Hello to all our residents in Central Stickney, Forest View, and Stickney. I hope you are as excited for Autumn and cooler temps as I am. I wanted to use this month's newsletter article to let you know about the 2023 Trustee Elections. That sounds like it's a long way off, but if you are interested in becoming a Library Trustee, that process actually starts right now. The Stickney-Forest View Public Library District serves a population of approximately 10,800 people. Approximately 7,100 live in the Village of Stickney, approximate 800 live in Forest View, and approximately 2,900 live in Central Stickney. In order to make sure that all three communities' needs are being met, we would love to have representatives from all three communities serving on our Library Board. There will be three Trustee seats up for election next year. Two of the seats are for full 6-year terms and one of the seats is for two years, to finish an incomplete term from a previously elected Trustee.
Prospective candidates must have resided within the library district boundaries for at least one year at the time he or she files nomination papers. We have pulled together some information and links for the election and have them available on the Library Trustee page of our website. Full information can be found on the Illinois State Board of Elections website. But the key dates you need to know about are September 20, 2022 - First date to start circulating petitions for signatures and December 12-19, 2022 - Filing period for candidates seeking election at the April 4, 2023, Consolidated Election. Nomination petitions are available to pick up at the Library, or you can print them off yourself from the Library's website. For further information, please call the business office at (708) 749-1050. .
