Solar Eclipse Glasses
Monday, March 25th to Saturday, April 6th, All Day
London Public Library
Pick up glasses to safely view the solar eclipse on April 8! We have a limited number of solar eclipse glasses. We will begin handing them out on Monday, March 25, until our supplies run out. In order to accommodate as many families as possible, there is a limit of 2 glasses per household.

Summer Reading T-Shirt Design Contest
Monday, April 1st to Tuesday, April 30th, All Day

Your design could be on our 2024 Summer Reading shirts! Do you love the library? Are you artistic? Have you always wanted to see your design on a t-shirt? If you answered yes to all of those questions, then we need your help! We want YOU to design our 2024 Summer Reading T-shirts! Patrons will be able to submit designs starting April 1st. The last day to submit a design will be April 30th. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept any submissions after this date so that we can make sure all of our t-shirts are ready to go by the first day of Summer Reading! Guess the Number of Lids
Monday, April 1st till Tuesday, April 30th, All Day

Guess the number of lids in the jar for a chance to win an eco-friendly prize. There are three different jars and prizes stationed in the Children's Room, Teen Area, and the circulation desk. You may enter answers at any (or all) of the stations. The person with the closest guess will win the prize next to that jar.

Monster Jam Reading Program
Monday, April 1st to Saturday, April 27th, All Day
London Public Library
Kids (ages 2 – 12) can earn a free ticket to Monster Jam, happening April 26 - 27, 2024, just by reading 5 books! Rules and Stipulations: Pick up a reading voucher at the library. Have vouchers stamped by library staff. Only valid for show times listed on the back of the voucher. Reading vouchers may only be redeemed at Schottenstein Center prior to the performance date. Free ticket with purchase of a full-priced adult ticket.

Lotus Lantern Craft
Tuesday, April 2nd, 6:30 PM - 7:45 PM
London Public Library Hartley Meeting Room
Join the Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project as they host this special program! Attendees will first learn the meaning of the lotus and lotus lantern lighting festival in Korea before being taught how to make the lotus lantern craft. Following the craft, a short documentary film about Korea will be shown. Spaces are limited, so sign up today! Craft is for ages 10 and up.

Recycled Art Show and Reception

The London Visual Arts Guild (LVAG) celebrates their 9th Annual Community Art Show! The LVAG will host a reception to showcase all of the art made by community members. Those who participated in the London Public Library's Recycled Art Contest will also have their art displayed in the LVAG show! Support your community members and check out all of the creative pieces that they have created! During this reception, members of the London Visual Arts Guild will vote on the best art for each category, and prizes will be handed out. Read to a real dog! Register your child for a 10-minute time slot in which they will read a story to certified therapy dog, Emma. Emma is a nonjudgmental listener who will encourage children to read and help struggling readers find confidence. Junior Gardeners

Join us as Heather and Todd from Rock Dove Farm of London teach caregivers and young children how to get involved with gardening at a young age! This program is for kids ages 3 and up and their caregivers and will be held on Saturday, April 13, at 3:00 PM. You'll get to learn things like how to involve your kids in home gardening and education for at-home gardeners (including how to do soil samples!). Kids will even get to transplant seedlings from small pots to larger pots and take the seedlings home!

Pick up your Earth Day goody bag today! To celebrate Earth Day, we have Earth Day goody bags full of treats! Each goody bag contains a Kraft Cover Notebook, an Eco-Friendly Wood Pencil, Pollinator Seed Mix, Herb Seeds (with herb growing guide), a Seedling Pot Plant Starter, and Plant Labels! These Earth Day goody bags will be available at the library starting April 22nd while supplies last. Pick up yours as soon as you can!

Each week focuses on a different theme using books, songs, and finger plays to reinforce the topic and boost early literacy. We incorporate lots of music and movement. There are weeks we will use musical instruments, scarves, balls, and a parachute.

Each week focuses on a different theme using books, songs, and finger plays to reinforce the topic and boost early literacy. We incorporate lots of music and movement. Preschoolers have the opportunity to practice the alphabet with a special letter activity after the regular story time is finished.

Children ages 3 - 6 can practice the alphabet and motor skills to prepare for kindergarten! We will practice letter sounds and writing letters using a variety of multisensory literacy activities. Children can also master the important fine motor skills and gross motor skills needed to start school. We will work on numbers and counting, scissors, sorting, patterns, and more!

Teen Advisory Board Meeting

Guidelines for joining the LPL TAB: TAB members must be between 7-12 grade and a minimum of 13 years old. TAB members must be able to commit to 1 meeting a month during the school year. *Failure to notify board leader about missed meetings may result in removal from TAB. TAB members will work as a team under guidance and supervision of the Adult/Teen Program Coordinator to: Recommend and create programs just for teens. Manage/supervise teen programs under the guidance of the Adult/Teen Program Coordinator, Suggest ideas that they would like to see around the library. Recommend teen materials to add to the library’s collection Why should I join the TAB? You will have a hand in creating programs specifically for teens.You will be able to recommend materials for our collection. You will get community service hours for every TAB meeting that you attend. You will be able to put a leadership position on your college application. Register now and get one-on-one help for any of your devices! Are you struggling to work the new iPad you got for Christmas? Maybe you want to set up a social media account but don't know where to start? Do you want to become more knowledgeable on how to work your email? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the London Public Library can help! We are now offering FREE Technology Help Sessions during the week by appointment only! Call or come in to schedule your help session! Each help session will provide a one-on-one 45-minute time block where you can ask questions and be shown how to use/do various tasks. Help session attendees must bring their own technology to learn on.
