Community Document Shredding at Salem South Lyon District Library

We are partnering with Salem South Lyon District Library to offer document shredding events to members of our communities. Lyon Township residents may bring a box or two of confidential papers that need to be securely destroyed. All documents will be destroyed on site.
 
Protect your personal information and destroy your confidential documents at our paper shredding event at the library. Consumer fraud and identity theft are putting communities at risk. To raise awareness and to promote privacy protection, we are providing paper shredding for local residents.

Upcoming Summer Friends of the Library Book Sale
 
We are currently accepting donations for the Friends of the Library Summer Book Sale that will take place Thursday, June 1 through Saturday, June 3.
 
We accept donations of used books in good condition, but cannot accept text books, encyclopedias, or magazines. Any items that are yellow, torn, moldy, or dirty will not be accepted.
 
 
Future Library Plans
 The New Library Project Architect
 
 At the Library Board Meeting on February 28th, the Library Board of trustees selected Quinn Evans as the architect for the new library project! They also approved the Township engineer's proposal for civil engineering for site improvements on 11 mile and Milford Road.
 
There will be more updates to come as this process unfolds, so make sure to keep an eye on our website for any news.

We have recently added an accessibility toolbar to our website which can be seen by clicking the "Accessibility Tools" link in the menu at the top of the website as seen below.
 
 
 
As part of our diversity and inclusion strategy, website visitors are now able to access a wide range of accessibility and language support tools to customize their digital experience through Recite Me assistive technology. 
 
Being able to offer an inclusive experience is essential to support over 25% of the population who may encounter barriers when exploring our website due to having a disability, learning difficulty, visual impairment, or if they speak English as a second language. 

The Recite Me assistive toolbar on the LTPL website includes screen reading functionality, multiple reading aids, customizable styling options an on-demand live translation feature that boasts over 100 languages including 65 text-to-speech and styling options.

Do you love reading, books and libraries? Help out our Friends' group!

What you can do:
  1. Volunteer to organize all of the donations that are dropped off to the library
  2. Assist in setting up the annual book sales 3 or 4x a year
  3. Volunteer to run the book sales
  4. Help recruit new Friends to the group
  5. Share ideas for special events to fund raise and support the library!
