BOOK SALE!
The Lyon Township Friends of the Library periodically hold used book sales, which are important fundraisers for raising money to assist the library with new fixtures, books, programming, and other needs.

The dates and times of the upcoming sale are as follows:
Thursday, November 14, 10:00am - 8:30pm
Friday, November 15, 10:00am - 4:30pm
Saturday, November 16, 10:00am - 4:30pm
Sunday, November 17, 12:00pm - 3:30pm

Congratulations to the Library Board Member Electees 
The following Lyon Township Public Library Board of Trustees were elected on November 5, 2024.

The next LTPL Board meeting will be on Thursday, November 21 at 7:00pm.
 
 
New Library Project Updates
Thank you to everyone who has been patient and supportive as we work our way through the many steps of the new library project!
 
 At the regularly scheduled Library Board Meeting on October 29 we received the exciting news from our Construction Management team that the time has come to begin work at the site on the corner of 11 Mile and Milford Road this November! We are thrilled to be progressing forward, and we will be certain to share updates with you as we get them. Thank you again for all of your support, encouragement, and excitement as we work towards creating this new community treasure!
 
The Library Board and LTPL staff are thankful to our team - Quinn Evans Architects, Civil Engineering Solutions and Frank Rewold & Sons for their dedication to the new library project!

Paws For Reading
  • Wednesday, November 27
  • New or struggling readers in grades 1-5 are invited to sign up for a 15-minute "Paws for Reading" session with one of our local certified therapy dogs.
  • The goal is to provide a non-judgmental atmosphere in which kids can read without correction or interruption and learn to love reading as well! Books will be available, but feel free to bring one from home.
  • Sessions are 15 minutes long. Registration is required. Please choose one session:
    5:30-5:45pm , 5:45-6pm , 
    6:15-6:30pm ,
    6:30-6:45pm, 6:45-7:00pm

FamilySearch and State Archives of Michigan: Digitization Projects
  • Tuesday, November 19, 6:30-8:00pm
  • Kris Rzepcyznski is coming to speak with us about the Archives of Michigan’s efforts to digitize historic probate records from across the state, including a project overview, current status, future counties, and an exciting update on Wayne County records.
  • Attendees will also see how to navigate the FamilySearch web site to find and search in the collection.

The library's online service for curbside pickup scheduling will be discontinued as of December 31, 2024.
 
To schedule a curbside pickup with us, please call the circulation desk at 248-437-8800 at least one hour prior to the time you would like to pickup.

What you can do:
  1. Volunteer to organize all of the donations that are dropped off to the library
  2. Assist in setting up the annual book sales 3 or 4x a year
  3. Volunteer to run the book sales
  4. Help recruit new Friends to the group
  5. Share ideas for special events to fund raise and support the library!
