Jean Creighton, Ph.D., Director of UWM’s Manfred Olson Planetarium, will help us understand the science behind the eclipse.


The North American Total Solar Eclipse

James Lattis, astronomer and Director of UW Space Place in Madison, will describe the upcoming total solar eclipse and offer suggestions for observing it.

The Total Eclipse Experience

Dr. Dennis D. Roscoe, NASA Ambassador, will discuss the total eclipse experience: what we will see, where to see it, and how to safely
photograph it.

Gaze Upon the Sun

Thursday, March 28

1:30 pm

Ages 5 & Up: Join us for an afternoon telescope viewing of the sun with astronomer Adam McCulloch of Geneva Lake Astrophysics and STEAM. If weather is inclement, we will make a pinhole camera for safely viewing the sun and learn the science behind this useful contraption.

Solar Oven

Ages 6-12: Celebrate the solar eclipse by making your own solar oven out of a pizza box! Registration is required and begins Monday, March 18. Please call (262) 782-4140, option 2.

Pick up a pair of solar eclipse glasses at the Adult Reference Desk. Supplies are limited; please only pick up glasses for your immediate household.
