Demon Slayer takes place during Taisho-era Japan and it follows the journey of a young boy named Tanjiro. After returning home one day from selling charcoal, Tanjiro discovers that his whole family has been massacred by a demon. He later discovers that his younger sister survived the attack, but has now been turned into a demon. Tanjiro begins his quest to become a demon slayer and avenge his family. He vows to protect innocent humans from demons and find a cure for his sister.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this anime. The story is very heartbreaking and not what I expected at all. I think Demon Slayer is a good fit for those who are interested in a more serious type of anime. What's amazing is how the anime incorporates 3D effects into the show and it makes fighting techniques stand out and look beautiful. I recommend watching the anime to check out these effects and the amazing scenes they are featured in. Demon Slayer is also available in manga format for those who prefer to read the story first or continue the story after catching up on the anime.
