This Week's Staff Picks Merry Mao Municipal Web Librarian May the Fourth has become widely known as Star Wars Day, and May 25 is Geek Pride Day; May 25, 1977 is when the first Star Wars movie was released in theatres. Coincidentally, for the month of May for the Adult Reading Challenge would be science-fiction and fantasy. Check out our suggested titles list for the month. Ready Player One - - Wade Watts hops into a virtual world to escape the ugly real world. It's probably something we could all use right about now. Star Wars: Rogue One - It's the novelization of my favorite Star Wars movie and dives deep into the characters. Who knew you could get so emotionally invested in a droid's fate? Star Wars: Scoundrels- This book is just one big fun adventure. Follow Han, Chewie, and Lando as they get themselves in and out of trouble, as usual. Star Wars: Kenobi - Get yourself ready for the upcoming live-action TV series and read about Obi-Wan Kenobi and his time on Tatooine after he delivers Luke to Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen. Star Wars: Darth Plagueis - "Have you ever heard the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?" This book is an incredible must-read about one of the most powerful Sith Lords, and to understanding the ways and teachings of the Sith. |
