Staff Picks: Mary Samson PT Librarian Fall has officially begun. It's time for leaf-peeping, warm meals and sweaters. Put away your flip-flops and enjoy the warm days and cool nights. Here are some suggestions for this season of going back to school and pumpkin lattes: Take a leaf-peeping road trip with destinations along the way. Four itineraries are offered with route maps (I still love a map to get the BIG picture) and honest reviews for all budgets. Get out on foot and explore! This book has hikes from all across the state from 1.5 to 11 miles of varying difficulties and terrains. Trail maps and additional resources including pictures are also provided. Check out this first novel in Ali Smith's Seasonal Quartet is an unforgettable story about aging and time and love--and stories themselves. Ebook is available also through Libby. The title of this one says it all. Bust out that soup pot and fire up the oven. Beatrice Ojakangas presents some delicious pairings of soups and breads. I like that the recipes require easy to find (if not already on-hand) ingredients. Fairfield Food Truck Festival The Friends of Fairfield Public Library announces the return of the Fairfield Food Truck Festival on Sunday, October 2, from 11:00am to 6:00pm at Jennings Beach in Fairfield. This year the Friends are partnering with the Town of Fairfield for an expanded event featuring concerts, attractions, and over 20 food trucks offering delicious fare. Fan favorites like DrewbaQ, Bubble & Brew Tea, and Rice & Beans will be returning in addition to some new vendors. Plan to bring the family and meet friends for a day of fun and socializing! Rain date: Sunday, October 9. See ya there! |
