Get out your beach chair and strap into your sandals: summer has finally arrived! Our librarians are busy preparing for our annual Summer Reading Program, so keep an eye out for a full list of our summer programming that will be released separately in early June.
 
In the meantime, take a look at our featured events for the coming weeks, including the programs you know and love as well as our annual local author fair and the kick-off of a new book club!
 
We'll also be celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride Month and National Camping Month with both fiction and non-fiction displays here at the library. Be sure to stop by and check them out!
 
READLocal: A Local Author Fair
Monday, June 26th at 6:30PM
Agawam Public Library is thrilled to bring back READLocal, our local author fair showcasing authors from Agawam and the surrounding area! Each author will give a brief presentation about their books and writing experiences, and authors will have a table with books available for sale and signing. Refreshments will be served.
 
This program is sponsored, in part, by the Agawam Center Library Association.
 
This is a drop-in program and no registration is necessary.
 
Read with Pride Book Club
Wednesday, June 7th at 7PM
Join us for the first meeting of the Read with Pride Book Club! This group will discuss books by LGBTQ+ authors and/or books that feature LGBTQ+ characters. It is open to members of the LGBTQ+ community and supporters. For the first meeting, participants are invited to bring a book they would like to share with the group, and we'll decide on the reading list for the next couple of meetings. 
 
Regular meetings will be held on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 2PM for teens and 7PM for adults.

ChairFit & Chair YogaFit Flow Classes

Mondays at 9:30AM - 10:30AM

Join certified instructor Mary Ellen More for alternating weeks of ChairFit and Chair YogaFit Flow classes. The ChairFit class takes pace on and off the chair and incorporates cardio, weights, stretch bands, balls, and balance; please bring a set of free weights.
 
The Chair YogaFit Flow class is designed to be in and out of the chair and alternates strength training with total body stretching and deep breathing; no equipment is necessary for this class.
 
All levels of fitness are welcome! These are drop in classes and no registration is necessary.

Come and meet other like-minded crafters at this knitting and crochet group for adults! New members are always welcome.

Agawam Chess Club

Wednesdays at 7:00 - 8:30PM

Join Agawam Public Library's new Chess Club! Instruction, strategies, and tactics will be provided to anyone wishing to learn how to play. 
 
All players from beginners to experienced are welcome. Attendees are invited to bring along their own sets.

Do you have a great sense of humor? Are you interested in meeting new friends? Join us for lots of games and brief discussions on the basics of improv comedy. Practice public speaking, cooperation and team-building, grand philosophical ideas of wellness and wholesome optimism, and also sometimes shouting a whole bunch! This is a great chance to come out of your shell - we're just making it up as we go along!

Game Night

Celebrate the joys of a good old game night with board games and snacks! We'll have games on hand like Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Munchkin, and more - but feel free to bring your own!
 
There will be multiple tables for multiple games, so bring a friend or meet some like-minded gamers at the event. Light refreshments like cookies, cupcakes, and juices will be available.
 
This is a drop in program for adults ages 18+ and no registration is necessary.
 

 
Tea & Trivia

Join us for a fun afternoon of tasty tea and Jeopardy-style trivia! Come by yourself or with a team, and prepare to have your wits challenged. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team!

Summer hours begin on June 12th. The library will be closed on Monday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth. Visitors are welcome Monday through Thursday 9:00AM to 9:00PM, Friday and Saturday 9:00AM to 5:00PM. Our last Saturday will be June 10th.
