Agawam Library        The Bookcase      February 2022
February is Library Lovers Month!

All month long, let your love shine! Fill out a heart next to our Valentine's Tree outside the computer room and tell us why you love the library. Your love will be shared on Lovers Lane leading to the Children's Room. While you're there, take a guess at how many Hershey's hugs and kisses are in the jar for a chance to take home the whole jar! Guesses are drawn on February 24th and hearts will stay up all month!
Jazz and the Civil Rights Movement

Tuesday, February 15 @ 6:00 p.m.
This is a virtual event.

Join us for a combined lecture and musical performance!  A 60-minute Power Point presentation chronicling the music from the turn of the century to present day and highlights various artists, their music, their influence on the evolution of jazz and their struggles. In addition, it illustrates how jazz became an advocate for the Civil Rights Movement, with proceeds from jazz concerts used to finance major events such as the Freedom Rides and the March on Washington in 1963. The lecture is infused with musical demonstrations with world renowned flautist, Galen. For more information on Galen, visit https://flutejuice.net
