Protect yourself while using the internet by choosing how your data is collected, shared, and sold. You can visit the National Cybersecurity Alliance website for helpful tips.

Jefferson County Point-in-Time Count

Jefferson County’s Point-In-Time Count takes place on January 29th. It helps count the people in our community who don’t have a safe place to live. The data collected helps secure funding and improve local services, and taking part makes a difference. Be counted and receive helpful supplies and information about local resources. Visit the Olympic Community Action Program (OlyCap) for times and locations.

How to Avoid Income Tax Scams

Tax season is a common time for scams. Some scammers pretend to be the IRS and contact people by email, text, or social media. Watch out for messages that promise extra benefits, rush you to pay, or ask for personal information. These are warning signs of a scam. To stay safe, visit the IRS website to learn how to spot and avoid common tax-related scams.

Library Spotlight
Library Services Beyond Our Walls

The library is committed to reaching people wherever they are — including the Jefferson County Correctional Center in Port Hadlock. Library staff visit the facility, located next to the Sheriff’s Office, to provide reading materials and helpful resources for both visitors and inmates.

In the lobby, we maintain an information display that is updated quarterly. The display highlights community resources, such as legal aid, domestic violence support, food banks, shelter options, and other outreach services. We also provide a basket of children’s books so young visitors have something to read while they wait.

Inside the facility, inmates have access to two full, double-sided rolling carts of books. We organize these carts like a small library, offering a wide range of topics, along with young adult titles and graphic novels to support all reading levels. The books are swapped out every few months.

We also bring paperback magazines for readers who prefer shorter reads. These services help ensure access to information, learning, and connection — even beyond the library’s walls.
