Celebrating Pride Month

A Poster for Port Townsend Pride presented by The Production Alliance on June 6th, from 12 pm until 5 pm.June is Pride Month, and we're celebrating LGBTQ+ culture, history, and stories all month long. Pride Month honors the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer culture and community. In the United States, Pride is observed every June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City, which served as a catalyst for the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement. Stop by the library this month and check out our special Pride-themed book displays in the Adult Fiction, Young Adult and Children's sections. We've also got an LGBTQ+ movie display in the DVD section.

And if you're looking for a way to celebrate with your community, The Production Alliance is hosting Port Townsend Pride 2026 at Pope Marine Park, Saturday, June 6, from 12PM-5PM. This event is a multigenerational celebration featuring 65+ community booths, a boat parade, live music, live drag, a kid zone, and a sensory zone.

The Cover of "Theo of Golden" by Allen LeviTheo of Golden by Allen Levi

Theo, a newcomer to the town of Golden, becomes involved with a local coffeehouse that displays pencil portraits of community members created by a local artist. Over time, he begins acquiring the portraits and returning them to the individuals depicted. Each interaction leads to the sharing of personal histories and the development of new relationships, affecting both Theo and the residents he meets. (from the publisher)

I loved this book! It is a feel-good storyline (but not sappy!) and one that will stay with you for a while.
