Tuesday, December 5th, 7pm-8pm Online via Zoom Who doesn't like a bit of holiday baking? We are so pleased to welcome Chef and Cookbook Author Erin Jeanne McDowell to our virtual stage! Erin will demonstrate how to make one of her favorite recipes and then will have some time to chat with attendees about all of our "burning" questions :). We hope you can make this very special event. Erin Jeanne McDowell's first book, The Fearless Baker (2017) was named one of the Best Baking Books of the year by the New York Times. Her second, The Book on Pie, (2020) is a New York Times Bestseller. Her latest, Savory Baking (2022) is about baking beyond sweets - for breakfast, dinner, and everything in between! She hosts the award-winning series Bake it Up a Notch on Food52, where she shares deep-dives into baking methods and troubleshoot common mistakes. This Zoom program is hosted by the Ashland Public Library, and we at Falmouth are happy to have been invited to partner with them. Please register to get a link to attend the program.

Fungal Foray in Beebe Woods Thursday, November 16th, 1pm-2pm Beebe Woods (56 Highfield Drive) As a follow up to his Author Talk on November 15th, Dr. Millman will lead a fungal foray in the Beebe Woods. Please register! The focus of the foray will be on fungal ecology and identification, not on edibility. Although the date is a bit late in the season for many fungi, you’ll still find a variety of different species, some of which will be in quite unusual places. Bring a hand lens or magnifier if you have one and a sense of curiosity. Dress appropriately for the weather and be aware that bad weather may cancel this event. We will meet in the Parking Area at Beebe Woods.

A Virtual Discussion on Beekeeping with Amanda Wastrom Thursday, November 16th, 6pm-7pm Online via Zoom Curious about beekeeping but not sure how to get started? A local beekeeper shares the surprises, joys and challenges they have observed over their 10 years of keeping honeybees here on Cape Cod. Learn more about what makes honeybees such amazing creatures and what you can do at home to support all pollinators. Amanda Wastrom is a curator, writer, and artist based in East Sandwich, where she lives with her family, a flock of chickens, an overgrown garden, and a few hives of honeybees. Friday Films Classic Edition - 12 Angry Men (1957) Friday, November 17th, 3pm-4:35pm Hermann Meeting Room Join us for our Friday Films viewing of the 1957 classic movie 12 Angry Men! "Following the closing arguments in a murder trial, the 12 members of the jury must deliberate, with a guilty verdict meaning death for the accused, an inner-city teen. As the dozen men try to reach a unanimous decision while sequestered in a room, one juror (Henry Fonda) casts considerable doubt on elements of the case. Personal issues soon rise to the surface, and conflict threatens to derail the delicate process that will decide one boy's fate." This movie viewing is free to the public and is supported by the Friends of the Falmouth Public Library. Registration is required as seating is limited.
