Summer 2022 The Falmouth Public Library is gearing up for summer and our summer visitors. Come to the Dome to check out our 'Where Are You From?' United States and World maps as well as our table that has maps and guides of Falmouth including the 2022-2023 Official Guide of Falmouth!

Arts Alive Arts Alive 2022 will be held on June 17th, 18th and 19th on the Falmouth Public Library lawn and adjacent Shore Street Extended and Peg Noonnan Park. This annual 3 day celebration of the arts will have a Town dance on Friday Evening with continuous performances, artists, craft people and food vendors in 3 tents on Saturday and Sunday.

Summer Reading Program Kick Off Party Youth Services will be kicking off the Falmouth Public Library's summer reading program on Wednesday, June 29th from 3pm-5pm with a party out on the library lawn! Have you ever been inside a whale before? Come start off the summer by learning about right whales (a local marine mammal) with Delilah, a life-sized inflatable North Atlantic right whale! There will also be games out on the library lawn to play, too! Delilah's Visit, a program of the Whale and Dolphin Conservation USA, is dependent on weather and is sponsored by the Friends of the Falmouth Public Library.

Juneteenth Storywalk Starting on Monday, June 13th, come to the library lawn to see the Falmouth Public Library's Storywalk of Juneteenth For Mazie. This event is part of Falmouth Public Library's Juneteenth programing.

My Octopus Teacher - A Falmouth Reads Together Event Join us on Friday, June 10th from 2pm-4pm for the documentary viewing of My Octopus Teacher in the Hermann room. Registration is required and is limited to 35 participants. In My Octopus Teacher, "A filmmaker forges an unusual friendship with an octopus living in a South African kelp forest, learning as the animal shares the mysteries of her world."

Edie Widder Book Reading & Signing: A WHOI and FPL Community Read Event Come join us as author Edie Widder does a select reading from her book, Below the Edge of Darkness: A Memoir of Exploring Light and Life in the Deep Sea, followed by a short Q&A and then a book signing on Saturday, June 11th from 1pm-2:30pm in the Hermann meeting room! This event is free to the public and registration is required. Copies of the book will be available for purchase by Eight Cousins at the event. The WHOI & FPL Community Read 2022 is part of Dispatches from an Ocean Planet: A Celebration of Film and Literature presented by the Yawkey Foundation and WHOI.

Book Bike at Mayflower Apartments The Falmouth Public Library's Book Bike will be at the Mayflower Apartments (formerly Choate Lane Apartments) on Monday, June 13th from 10:30am-11am. Everyone is welcome to stop by, meet the book bike library staff members and pick-up free books and DVD's.

The House of Mirth Book Group Join this special book group discussion on both Monday, June 13th and Monday, June 27th at 4pm to discuss and share your thoughts on Edith Wharton's The House of Mirth. The group will meet in the Hermann meeting room and for those who wish to join from home, you can join via Zoom. To get the Zoom link, please contact Linda Collins. On Juneteenth Book Discussion Join this special book group discussion on Wednesday, June 15th at 6pm in the Hermann meeting room to discuss and share your thoughts on Annette Gordon-Reed's On Juneteenth. Copies are available for pickup at the reference desk. This event is part of Falmouth Public Library's Juneteenth programing and registration is required. "The essential, sweeping story of Juneteenth's integral importance to American history, as told by a Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and Texas native."
