George Gritzbach Band on the Library Lawn
George Gritzbach Band
Tuesday July 25, 6-8pm
Library Lawn (rain will cancel)

We are excited to welcome Falmouth’s longtime favorite roots and blues legend, George Gritzbach and his band for a live, outdoor performance on the lawn on Tuesday evening, July 25th, from 6-8pm, weather permitting. Bring your chair or blanket!

George is known for his innovative original songs. The Boston Globe called him a “sizzling hot, no-holds barred electric bluesman” and “one of the finest guitar players in America.”

The band now includes a seasoned rhythm section including Scott Lariviere on bass and backing vocals, Johnny Menezes on keyboards and Christian McCarthy on drums, percussion and backing vocals, and is rounded out by Peter Murray on the sax!

We thank the Board of Library Trustees for sponsoring this concert!

Raising Our Voices: A Story and Song Celebration
Thursday July 27, 3-4pm
Library Lawn

The Falmouth Public Library will celebrate imagination, empowerment, School Vacation and the 2023 Summer Reading Program by presenting a performance for children and families by Parents’ Choice Award winning performing Davis Bates.

Entitled “Raising Our Voices”, the program will include songs and stories about empowerment and imagination from a variety of cultural traditions. Hear about a brave parrot, how coyote got his howl and be prepared to sing, move and clap your hands. The program will include plenty of sing-alongs, as well as a short lesson in how to play the spoons, and an appearance by an Irish dancing wooden dog named Bingo.

This performance is funded, in part, by a grant from the Falmouth Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Great Decisions 2023: Politics in Latin America
Wednesday July 26, 7-8:30pm
Hermann Room

Space Available!  Great Decisions is America's largest civic discussion group.  Come join us to discuss our next topic, Politics in Latin America, in a non-partisan, open environment.

What does the emergence of various left-wing governments mean for countries in Latin America?  Electoral results in Latin America over the past four years have led many observers of the regional/political scene to discern a left-wing surge in the hemisphere, reminiscent of the so-called “Pink Tide” that swept the area some 20 years ago. But how much do these politicians actually have in common? What implication does their ascendency have for the region?
